This title comes from the association brought to me by the black-and-white space of the Shekou Gallery. Shenzhen, especially Shekou, always makes me vaguely feel a scene described in a science fiction novel. No matter in time or space, it has a kind of ultra-modern and unfinished sense as of the end of the earth. So this series of exhibitions that I've envisioned will start with a novel by Haruki Murakami. It explored the projection of the world in front of us in this dual vocabulary of "Sci-fi doomsday" and "Wonderland Lost". The fictional background of the story also seems to reflect the hidden reality of the present. I will invite four groups of artists and divide them into four exhibitions, with two people in one group, to display in a black-and-white space. Because the novel is consisted of two parallel and connected stories, the two artists in each group will read one of the stories - either "The End of the World" or "Hard-Boiled Wonderland", hoping that the selected story will trigger their own creation and imagination. The artistic creation not only echoes the thinking of the novel but also closely follows the local environment. On the surface, this series of exhibitions can be regarded as a free and long reading note, which confronts the problems raised by literature in an artistic way. However, when it comes down to the exhibition level, it also resembles a game of comparison, connection, and continuation under an agreed rule. Although the projects are independent, they are integrated. As a themed exhibition, it is not like the general group exhibition, which is merely a chorus in a fixed space. Instead, it advances the sequence rhythmically, like a variation on the timeline.
